Grade You Teach: Kindergarten
How long you’ve been at Concordia: This is my 4th year at Concordia. I taught 1st grade 2000-2002 and 2nd grade 2002-2003. My youngest two are going to kindergarten this year and I’m excited to be back at CLS to teach.
Favorite Concordia memory: Wow, I have so many! As a child my favorite memories are making my kindergarten can for Mrs. Ruppert’s class, being a mouse in the first grade play (Good job making my costume, mom!), making my nativity scene for Mr. Tagge’s class, pep rallies, Christmas programs, Miss Richardson, Camp Cilca, Mr. Heien’s licorice, and believing I was a superstar on Mr. Stroup’s eighth grade basketball team. And of course, Mr. Brandt greeting “hello hello hello” in the hallway every morning. As a teacher my favorite memory is chocolate coffee cake from Trefzgers at staff meetings!!!! (I miss the Rupperts!)
Did you attend Concordia? Yes I was blessed to attend Concordia for all 9 years!
Did/Do your children attend Concordia? Yes, I have 3 primary grade students.
Why did you choose to become a teacher? I love children, I love watching them grow and learn. Seeing their eyes light up when they discover something new and exciting is the greatest feeling. I’m thankful to get to go to work each day and be a part of that.
What attracted you to Concordia? Jesus is at the center of everything we do here at Concordia. It’s a place where everyone – faculty and staff, students and parents – all genuinely care about one another and lift each other up. Concordia is a family, it’s home to me, and I am thrilled to be back!
Please tell us about your family: I have three sweet little girls and we have two new baby kitties. My parents are Rusty and Doris Dunham. We are longtime members of Redeemer.
